... WINTER STORM WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FROM 6 AM SATURDAY TO 6 AM EST SUNDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON NY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW... DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS AND BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS CENTRAL NEW YORK AND NORTHERN PENNSYLVANIA SATURDAY MORNING, AND WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. TOTAL STORM ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 6 TO 10 INCHES IN THE SOUTHERN FINGER LAKES AND CENTRAL SOUTHERN TIER... TO BETWEEN 8 AND 12 INCHES ACROSS THE SUSQUEHANNA REGION OF NEW YORK TO BETWEEN 10 AND 14 INCHES IN THE CATSKILLS. ACROSS BRADFORD AND SUSQUEHANNA COUNTIES IN PENNSYLVANIA EXPECT 8 TO 14 INCHES BY LATE SATURDAY NIGHT.

IN ADDITION TO THE SNOW... NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 10 TO 20 MPH SATURDAY NIGHT LEADING TO CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO FALL TO BETWEEN ZERO AND 5 BELOW ZERO CREATING WIND CHILLS AS LOW AS 20 BELOW ZERO AT TIMES.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT BECAUSE HEAVY SNOW... AND CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IS EXPECTED IN THE WARNING AREA. ROADS WILL BE SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY WITH POOR VISIBILITY. TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED, UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL IN THE WARNING AREA SATURDAY OR SATURDAY NIGHT, USE EXTREME CAUTION
